Cash for Trash

TerraCycleJean Silbar, our Executive Director, cannot stop humming the lyrics to her favorite Oscar the Grouch song. (“Oh, I love trash! Anything dirty or dingy or dusty, anything ragged or broken or rusty. Yes! I love trash!”) It is for good reason!

TerraCycle is making a contribution to CTC for every item we collect from the list below. TerraCycle upcycles the item into a fun new product, stopping it from ending up in a landfill. You can drop these empty and clean items off at our office (or send them in with your favorite staff member or volunteer):

  • Drink Pouches (CapriSun, Honest Kids)
  • Frito‐Lay Chip Bags (Lay’s, Doritos, Cheetos, Fritos, Sun Chips)
  • Mars/Wrigley Candy Wrappers (Skittles, M&Ms, Starburst, Twix, Snickers)
  • Huggies Plastic Diaper Packaging
  • Elmer’s Glue Sticks and Bottles
  • Neosporin Tubes
  • Old Cell Phones
  • Wine Corks
  • and more!

Hello! I called a little bit ago about starting a collection at Grand Valley, I have the first step started and will begin a test drive at the beginning of next semester. To join your team, however, I need an invitation code for terracycle.net. Please send it to me ASAP so that I can get this drive going! Thank you

Hi Caitlin! It’s so awesome that you’re interested in starting a collection at GVSU for us. I don’t know what the number is, but our lead Terra Cycle person does. I will forward it on as soon as I hear from her! Thanks:)
