  Parent Testimonials

Therapy and Fun summer program for children with disabilities and special needs asks parents for feedback on the summer therapy.  Here are some of the testimonials parents gave in 2008.

Question: Did you get enough information from the therapists?

Answers:
"They communicate consistently. Every question we had got answered."
"When I asked questions regarding my son I received very helpful information as well as suggestions. We love the detail provided."
"At conferences, but could've used more info on songs that were sung or scissor activities so I could follow up at home."
"They were very helpful.  Very informative."

Question:  What changes have you seen in your child this summer?

Answers:
"She can ride her bike.  She is nine years old so we've been trying for a long time."
"I hear more talking and see more walking."
"My son is happy, more confident, speech improved and better walking."
"Improvements in speech, increased control of fine motor skills (i.e. zippers)."
"She's learning to be more independent asking for things. Potty training going better. Thanks you did a great job."
"Her chewing and eating habits improved dramatically. She no longer gags on food. She has begun signing.  It is great to be able to communicate."
"Many changes: imaginative play, vocal play, strength in walking, happiness, strength in hand, and scribbling."
"Improved speech, tremendously more attentive.  More social. Tremendous improvement in all areas - fine, gross and speech."

Question:  How did your child tell you he/she felt about the program?

Answers:
"Our daughter is always very excited to come to therapy. She tells us that she has lots and lots of friends there.  She wants to come every day - talking about what she did."
"We had tears at the beginning but, he was undoing his seatbelt to get out of car on own by end of summer."
"Our son loved coming again this year; he was eager to leave me in the AM and talked about what he did when I picked him up."
"He always wanted to come to camp.  He developed friendly relationships with the volunteers.
"She loved coming to summer school.  She said it was "Great!"
"Our daughter was very happy to go to "summer school" and asked about going every day. She was very excited to come each morning and loved all the helpers."
"She so was thrilled to attend that she would wait with her backpack on."

  Question: Any other comments?

Answers:
    "
Thanks for everything this summer! Once again you all put together a quality kid-centered program."

"Program was great, I don't know what I would have done without it."

"This is our third year and we find the program to be extremely beneficial to our daughter, even more so now that she is in school. The program helps to fill in the gap between school years and keeps her progressing.

"We felt so secure leaving our child with so many friendly, educated, and patient people. The staff and volunteers are special people who change and impact the kids every day. There is comfort in finding people who understand what you are going through and who help you every step of the way. Thank you for a great summer."

"I enjoyed it. I appreciated the supportive staff and volunteers. Everyone was kind and helpful. I sensed that all valued children - despite differences - and had a true love for each child as a whole and individuals. Thank you for all you've done - we will be back next year - Lord willing."

"Everyone was very friendly and welcoming to my child. The organization and administrative part of the program was excellent and professional. I am thankful to have been able to participate in this program this summer."

"This program has done what no other special education program has been able to accomplish in the 3+ years our daughter has been with the Grand Rapids Public Schools Early Childhood Education Program. Her speech has improved 10-fold and I believe she has met the goals the school system set for the entire 2007-2008 school year during your summer program. This is quite an accomplishment for her and the credit goes to the staff and volunteers at the Comprehensive Therapy Center. A great big Thanks to all of you!"
