Celebrating the Winners of the “Into Space!” Art Contest
16th Annual
Read to Me Tea
About the Coloring Contest and Read to Me Tea
Did you know that March is Social Worker Month, April is Occupational Therapy Month, and May is Better Hearing and Speech Month?
To celebrate, CTC (which provides special education services to West Michigan schools) hosts an art contest that starts in February and ends with an event in May. Children submit beautiful artworks and are awarded with prizes and a celebration.
In a normal year, we would celebrate by having a Read to Me Tea at the Sweet House in downtown Grand Rapids while enjoying cookies and lemonade. Local, state, and federal lawmakers would come read to the winners, then spend time speaking with families about special education policies and other issues.
2021 Read to Me Tea
This year, we will be having a virtual celebration on May 5th. There will be an awards ceremony, live storytelling from our local legislators and representatives, and winner packets.
- Live Awards Ceremony
- Live Book Readings from Local Lawmakers: Mark Huizenga, Mary Judnich, Peter Meijer, Bryan Posthumus, and Milinda Ysasi.
- Winner packets, which include notecards made from winning, books, a craft project, and other goodies. These will be distributed through delivery, at schools, and/or at our office.
All winners and their art will be posted here in March!
Thank you to community members and legislators for helping make this event possible. It is 100% funded by your generosity, and we thank you for helping the children we serve feel celebrated for their accomplishments.
