Read To Me Tea 2024

Hello friends,

This has been a busy season for us at CTC, and I am excited to share it all with you! In the spring, we jumped right into planning for our annual “Read To Me Tea” event. This event is a CTC staple that is specifically for the clients we work with in the schools we serve. Read To Me Tea takes place at The Sweet House in Grand Rapids, and is our opportunity to honor and celebrate the students who have worked so hard in their services throughout the year with their families, our staff, and community.

Our students submit art they have created with their therapists, and we display it in an art gallery. We also invite local legislators and community leaders to attend and read to the students in attendance. When they are not reading, they have the opportunity to meet with the parents and share how they are working for them and their child.

We were thrilled to host Rep. Hillary Scholten, Rep. Rachel Hood, Rep. John Fitzgerald, Commissioner Lisa Knight, and representatives from the offices of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Senator Debbie Stabenow, Rep. Pat Outman, Special Olympics of West Michigan and Disability Advocates of West Michigan.

We were featured on WZZM-13’s On Your Side News segment (read about it here), as well as featured in Rep. Hillary Scholten’s weekly newsletter. This year’s event was a major milestone for CTC, and we can’t wait to celebrate again next year!
