As some of you may have heard, Comprehensive Therapy Center was chosen from amongst 120 nominees in the area to be a finalist for Non-Profit of the Year by the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce. We were honored to be chosen as one of the top three organizations in the area, ranking amongst some other amazing non-profits like Treetops Collective and In the Image.

On Monday, October 25, the winner was announced at the EPIC Awards Gala. This event was attended by business owners and community leaders from throughout the region. As the night went on, these folks were recognized for being Entrepreneurial, Progressive, Innovative and Collaborative. We’re pleased to announce that CTC was recognized as well, not only as a finalist, but as the Non-Profit of the Year for 2021. We won!

“Congratulations to everyone at CTC for this award, recognizing the agency’s work to foster community growth through efforts that are entrepreneurial, progressive, innovative and collaborative.” – Tom Miller, CTC Board President

Summer Wright, Executive Director of CTC accepts the award.

Comprehensive Therapy Center has had quite the year. We’ve undergone leadership changes, expanded our team and have continued to improve upon our programming to help individuals with disabilities walk, talk, learn and play. Therapy & Fun 2021 was our biggest year yet, with every spot filling up within weeks. Our Therapeutic Play & Learn Groups (funded by Kent County Ready by Five Millage) are back in person and we’ve even partnered with other organizations, such as the Down Syndrome Association of West Michigan, to bring those groups out to the community. We’ve also introduced new programming including Social Groups and our Diversity in Healthcare Youth Project.

Thank you Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce for this honor and recognition. Earning this award has been a great way to cap off this year and it would not have been possible without not only the skills and talent that our staff bring to the table, but also those of you in the community who have supported us through volunteering, donations and spreading the word about our wonderful organization. To all of you, we truly thank you. You are what makes CTC so great.

In 2022, CTC will be celebrating its 40th anniversary. We’ve come a long way since 1982 and we don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. With your support, we hope to continue to grow for many years to come.
