Read To Me Tea

Every year, Comprehensive Therapy Center serves hundreds of individuals—many of them children—through our Grand Rapids clinic and school-based programs. These clients dedicate countless hours to speech therapy, occupational therapy, and social-emotional support. Much of this work happens quietly, behind the scenes. That’s why we created Read To Me Tea—an annual event that celebrates their progress, creativity, and resilience.

This year’s theme, “Let’s Drive 2025!”, inspired each client to work with their therapist to create a one-of-a-kind piece of art. Together, these pieces transformed our clinic into a vibrant art gallery filled with imagination, expression, and pride.

First launched in 2005, Read To Me Tea was originally designed as a space where families and caregivers could connect with community leaders and legislators—people they might not typically encounter in everyday life. While advocacy remains a meaningful part of this tradition, this year we put the spotlight firmly on celebration.

Families walked the gallery halls, admiring the incredible talent and hard work of their loved ones. Each student received a stack of reading level-appropriate books, a certificate of completion, a set of greeting cards with their art printed on them, and a goodie bag full of fun treasures to reward their efforts and encourage continued growth. The atmosphere was joyful and welcoming—with lemonade, cookies, yard games, a craft station, and a fun photo booth to capture silly moments and smiles. Local legislators joined us to recognize the participants and connect with the families we serve.

Read To Me Tea 2025 was more than just an event—it was a reminder of the power of therapy, the importance of community, and the beauty of every voice, at every age and ability.
