Who doesn’t love Play-Doh? It’s a great activity for both sensory and fine motor skills. It can teach creativity and spacial awareness. It’s also just plain fun.

Here’s a fun activity you can do with your child at home. Make your very own Play-Doh! Below are four unique recipes using household ingredients:

Lemon Poppy Seed Play-Doh
1 pkg. Lemon Poppy Seed Muffin Mix
2 cups of flour
1 ½ cups of salt
6 TBS. Oil
6 Tsp. Cream of Tartar
Mix all ingredients. Cook over medium heat,
stirring constantly, until mixture pulls away from
the sides of the pan. Remove and knead. Store in
a plastic container. Keeps several weeks in the
refrigerator.

Sand Play-Doh
4 cups of clean sand
3 cups of flour
¼ cup of vegetable oil
1 cup of water
Mix sand and flour together. Add oil and water.
If needed add more water for desired texture.

Gingerbread Play-Doh
1 cup of flour
½ cup salt
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 cup of water
2-3 Tbsp. of vegetable oil
Mix dry ingredients together. Add water and oil.
Mix small amounts of cinnamon, allspice, ginger and
nutmeg. Cook over medium heat, stirring
constantly, until mixture pulls away from the sides
of the pan. Remove and knead. Store in a
container. Keeps several weeks in the
refrigerator.

Kool-Aid Play-Doh
1 ¼ cup of flour
¼ cup of salt
1 pkg. unsweetened Kool-aid
1 ½ T. oil
1 cup of boiling water

Mix dry ingredients. Add boiling water and oil.
Mix; then knead. Store in a container. Keeps
several weeks in the refrigerator.
